Join UMB’s 5th Annual Biggest Loser Challenge
UMB had 49 teams last year, and as a whole, lost over 1000 pounds! This year’s challenge will run from August 17th- October 25th. Teams will submit weekly weight totals and will receive an email each week with results, recipes, exercises and tips to help with your weight loss journey. To get started:
1. Form a team of 3-5 associates*.
2. Email your team name and members to Michelle Riley (email@example.com) by 8/14
3. Once signed up, your team will receive a log to track your weight each week and an email with more information.
4. Turn in a copy of your challenge log by close of business Monday of each week
*If you don’t have a team, but still would like to participate, email Michelle and we will put together teams of individuals looking for team members*
Teams will add their total weight at the beginning of the challenge and record their weight loss total each week. A weekly email will notify you of your team’s status in the challenge and provide a weekly challenge. Each team that completes the weekly challenge will be entered into a drawing for that week’s small, fun prize to help with your weight loss journey. At the end of the Biggest Loser, each team will total their weight loss and divide it by their starting weight to get their total percentage of weight lost. Overall prizes will be given to the top team at the end of the competition. All teams that fully finish the challenge will receive recognition of their participation as well.
New this year: Teams in Kansas City have the option to weigh in with the Wellness Coaches on Mondays at the Wellness Center (928) between 8-9am, or at the Tech Center between 9-10am. Teams outside of Kansas City are encouraged to pick a regular weekly time to weigh in.
The goal is for participants to adopt healthier dietary habits, physical activity habits and stress management habits to lose one to two pounds per week during the Challenge. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, “Evidence shows that people who lose weight gradually and steadily (about one to two pounds per week) are more successful at keeping weight off. Healthy weight loss isn’t just about a ‘diet’ or ‘program.’ It’s about an ongoing lifestyle that includes long-term changes in daily eating and exercise habits.”
The following program is offered to promote health and wellness. It is not intended as a substitute for or replacement of medical advice or treatment. Always seek the advice of your doctor or other medical professional if you have questions about any health and wellness program or challenge.
